Exhibit description

This complicated device visible on this drawing could be found in many homes.

This is a cross-section of a popular gas meter manufactured by Julius Pintsch. The diversity of the solutions used in this gas meter indicated that the measuring of gas was not its only function. This gas meter also accepted payments and, based on the tokens inserted into the slot mechanism, calculated the purchased quantity of gas.
