Exhibit description

The acquisition of this exhibit by the museum was quite a challenge.

This wet gas meter does not resemble the devices we recognise from our homes. It is a very accurate experimental device, which works on the basis of the displacement phenomenon, and the use of a manometer liquid.

As mysterious as its functioning mode is, was the way in which the wet gas meter was discovered by the Nysa gasworks employees. No one knows how the device found its way into the cellar of the Wrocław University of Technology. So that it could be carried through a narrow passageway, the wet gas meter had to be sawn in two.
