Exhibit description

Today, gas heaters can tell us a lot about places where they were once used. This particular exhibit is highly decorative – it is made from cast iron and copper, enamelled and gilded.

It was intended to provide heat to affluent homes, or even palaces. Such devices also heated church interiors.

This gas heater was donated to the museum by the Bishop of the Opole Diocese.
