Exhibit description

With its colour and illuminance, gas-lit lamps were superior to all other solutions previously used to light up homes.

To emphasize the unique character of gaslight, some light fixtures were built to resemble decorations made from precious pearls.

This is the case with this 19th-century gas wall lamp which arrived in Paczków from the Czech Republic. The gas flame is made to look even more beautiful inside this ornamental lampshade.
