Such storage towers are often the only trace of an old gasworks, which was moved to the outskirts of a developing city.
The gas generated in the new gas plant was then transported to such towers which were already connected to the distribution network. This drawing also includes the plans for the ammonia plant. Such installations were built next to large gasworks, such as the plant in Tarnogaj near Wrocław, where these plans originate from.
