Exhibit description

This drawing shows a cross-section of the heart of the gasworks.

You can see a chamber furnace with a characteristic towering shape. Its special design helped to make the production of gas more efficient – in comparison to smaller retort furnaces, it generated 20% more gas. Such facilities found their use in the large gasworks – these plans were drafted for the gasworks in Tarnogaj (Wrocław).
