Exhibit description

The technical drawing of the furnace hall of the Municipal Gasworks in Głubczyce from 1912 is a registration document of the building, which was drawn up by the local municipal authorities. The drawing tells us about the type of furnaces used at that time: these were retort furnaces.

In the decades that followed, the furnace hall underwent major changes. As the retort furnaces were replaced with vertical-chamber furnaces, the formerly 8-metre-high building had to be significantly raised to accommodate the new furnaces, which had a completely different shape.
